STEP 1: Apply for an FSA ID for Both Student & Parent
- Once You apply for your FSA ID, Wait about 24-28 hours before completing the FAFSA.
The FSA ID allows students and parents to identify themselves electronically to access Federal Student Aid websites. An FSA ID is made up of a username and password and can be used to log into the online Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form.
STEP 2: Complete the FAFSA (This step may not be available until Dec 1, 2024)
The FAFSA is the form you need to fill out to get any financial aid from the federal government to help pay for college. Each year, over 13 million students who file the FAFSA get more than $120 billion in grants, work-study, and low-interest loans from the U.S. Department of Education.
