We will have our first meeting on Tuesday, August 13 during recess in Ms. Hyatt's

GVB tryouts are re-opened this Wednesday -Thursday, Aug 14 & 15, start time is 3:30 PM.

FOOTBALL ATHLETES 
All Football Players, the Locker Room is open every morning 7:30am - 7:50am.  
Coach Torres will be there to monitor and open the Locker Room. Your gear and bags will be 
locked up all day till after school when you report to the Locker Room. Please lock your 
bags and gear in the Locker Room in the morning.  Do not leave them in the cafe or in

21ST CENTURY GRANT SITE COORDINATOR POSITION FOR KHIS
If you are interested in working as a site coordinator for KHIS, please submit your resume to
program manager Charl Tailele at [email protected]. By 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 19.
The position hours are from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday. Duties include, Data collection, program
monitoring, instructor support and campus supervising. -Admin

DRIVER EDUCATION IS NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR SESSION 9. 
(FALL 2019). All interested students who are 15 ½ years of age and has a State of Hawaii
Driver's instruction permit, stop by P-9 (Mr. Mundo classroom) to pick-up an application and 
schedule. Turn in the completed application along with a Xerox copy of your State of Hawaii 
Driver's Instruction Permit. Pay the $10.00 fee, by August 15. Class begins on August 19, 2019 
(Parent/Student orientation night (5:30PM-7:30PM), however we are short on 
enrollment. Please enroll quickly to avoid class delay to September or possible

YERBOOK SENIOR PORTRAIT SCHEDULING
We are pleased to announce that your Yearbook staff has decided to partner with Lifetouch 
Prestige Portraits for your Senior portraits. Seniors will have the choice of being photographed
in-studio or on-campus. To assist your yearbook staff with their publishing deadlines, please make 
sure you note the following deadlines, dress codes, and requirements below. For more information

Outfit: Business casual (must be in school dress code)

Important Information:
          • Proofs will be ready in 2-3 weeks after sitting date and will be mailed 
             home to the given address during checkin.
          • Proofs will also be available for viewing online 2-3 weeks after sitting 
            date, ask consultant for details.
          • A $25.00 cancellation fee will be assessed for all no shows on 
             cancellations without at least 48 hours notice.
          • Sitting fee for both in-studio and on-campus is $30 and must be paid 
             at the time of sitting.

YEARBOOK UNDERCLASSMEN PORTRAITS
School picture days for underclassmen will be on Tuesday September 24th, 2019 and 
Wednesday, September 25th, 2019 from 8 am to 2:35 pm during English in the Gym Foyer.

Order forms will be given to students one week prior to picture day, please have money

ORDERING YOUR 2020 YEARBOOK & PERSONALIZATION
Order your yearbook by September 30th and save $5 off the regular price. You'll pay $45 and 
be guaranteed a book in May! On October 1st the price goes back to the regular $50. Name 
stamping and personalization ends on January 15th, 2020!

STUDENTS INTERESTED IN PARTICIPATING IN AIR RIFLERY 
Varsity Air Riflery practice will start on August 5, 2019 3:00 p.m. at the Kahuku Air Rifle 
Range located behind the portables.  The team is open to all student in grades 9 -12 of all 
physical abilities.  You will need to have your physical, risk form, clearance form from the 
Athletic Trainer and obligations signed off prior to being able to practice.  This is a great
opportunity to learn a new sport, represent your school and possibly earn a scholarship.

Reminder to all student athletes:If you are trying out for a Fall Sport or if you are already 
on a team, there is a Mandatory DOE Parent Mtg for Fall Sports (Girls Volleyball, 
Cheerleading, JV Girls Softball, Cross Country, Air Riflery)

STUDENT ATHLETIC ACTIVITY PASSES 
Reminder to all students:
1.  If you purchased an athletic pass after registration:
a. Pick up your pass from the front office counter.  
b. Present an ID, and initial to pick up your pass.
2.  For all Inter-League Football Games everyone must pay.
a. If you have an athletic pass, present it at the ticket window to purchase a student 
priced ticket.  K - 8th grade purchase a student priced ticket.
b. All others will pay General Admission, including students without an athletic pass.
3.  For all OIA Season Games of all sports, entrance is free, when you present your 
Athletic Card and ID at the gate.GO BIG RED . . .   

ALL SPORTS AND ANY OFF SEASON OPTIONAL WORK OUTS REQUIREMENTS
All students Trying Out for Sports or participating in Off Season Optional Work Outs 
are required to complete the following:
1. Submit current Sports Physical to the Athletic Trainer.
2. Submit completed Assumption of Risk Form to the Athletic Trainer (one for each sport you participate in).
3. Get a Clearance Form from the Athletic Trainer.
4. Clear all obligations and get Clearance Form signed by the Front Office Clerks.
5. Submit Clearance Form to Coach in order to Try Out or Participate. GO BiG RED !!!- G. Yamagata

GAME TICKETS 
News Flash: You can Down load the GO FAN APP and purchase your tickets on line.
Select the Oahu Interscholastic League, select the Game your purchasing for, and the
type of tickets. Present your phone at the gate showing the tickets purchased to gate 
personal, who will select the tickets needed. Friday Games: Ticket gates open 5:30pm. 
Saturday Games:  Ticket Gates open 4:30pm. GO BiG RED !!!     G. Yamagata

STUDENT IDENTIFICATION (ID)
This year, a new finger scanning system will be implemented to be used as a method 
of student identification. Please see the informational letter on page 5. Students can
 initialize their finger scan and get a picture ID card on July 23 and 25 in the cafeteria 
and in Q0 thereafter. Replacement IDs will be $5.00 at the time of the request. Effective 
this year, students are required to show their picture ID card or scan their finger for 
every meal purchase. Students will not be able to purchase a meal without scanning 
their finger or showing their picture ID even if money is available in their account. 
Negative balances will not be allowed.

FREE AND REDUCED PRICE MEAL APPLICATION
Starting July 15, 2019 online applications will be available at ezmealapp.com. 
Please do not submit a paper application if an online application has been submitted. 
Please fill out a Free and Reduced Lunch application even if not due prior to Sept. 17 
to help KHIS get ack $350,000 in federal funding.
