PRE-SALE PRICE FOR YEARBOOK ENDS THIS FRIDAY
Starting Friday, the yearbook price will be $50. Seniors! PLEASE get your senior portraits
done by September 13th if you want them to be in the yearbook. You must go down to the
Kunia to Lifetouch to take your portraits. You can call Lifetouch and set up an appointment
or do so online. The link is on the KHIS website on the yearbook page. If you have any questions,

THE HIGH SCHOOL INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
Internship with Senator Brian Schatz: Program provides a hands-on learning opportunity
about the U.S. Senate and encourages students to be leaders and advocates in their schools
and communities. Interns will be selected based on their involvement in their community
(jobs, activities, and responsibilities) and diversity of interests and life experiences. Students
must have a GPA of 2.5 or better and have personal access to email.

OPEN HOUSE SESSION
The High School Open House scheduled for August 28, 2019 will be structured very
differently this year. There will be no structured bell schedule and you will be able to
visit your child's classrooms at anytime between 2:00 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. The purpose
of the Open House sessions is for teachers to provide a general overview of their
course. Please note that information for individual students will not be provided
at these sessions. Student schedules will be available in the cafeteria from 2:00-3:00.
Assistance with logging onto infinite campus will be available in Q-2. Please join us
for a general session in the cafeteria from 3:50 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. We hope to see
you there and thank you for your continued support.

EMERGENCY CARDS
Thank you for submitting the updated Emergency Card that was sent home in the Student
Packet during the first week of school. Teachers and the front office are still collecting these
packets. Please note that this information is used to update parent/guardian contact information
for students in Infinite Campus. We will be contacting you if we have questions about the updated
information you provided and/or if a signature was not on the Emergency Card. If you need to
update your contact information in the future, you will need to do so in person at the
Registra’s Office (Rm Q1). Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

F.A.C.E Coordinator, Mrs. Melanie Afualo, is ready and excited to help provide
opportunities and plan events to get our Kahuku School Community members
engaged. On Campus Hours: Tuesday/Thursday: 7:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.
Wednesday: 7:00 a..m.-10:00 a.m. Time will be adjusted for school events.

ACCESS TO INFINITE CAMPUS FOR NEW STUDENTS AND 7TH GRADERS
New students and 7th graders' Infinite Campus accounts have been created. You can access
this to see your grades and attendance online. New students have a default username/password.
Username: 10 digit student number (1234567890). Password: <first name initial lowercase>
<last name initial lowercase><birthdate MMDDYY> (e.g., aa020501). Please see your
counselor if you need more information.

DRIVERS ED EXTENDED ENROLLMENT
Driver Education still is accepting applications for Session 9. (Fall 2019). We plan to start
the first week of September if we achieve the quota. Please come P-9 before August 30 and
get an application.

YEARBOOK SENIOR PORTRAIT SCHEDULING
We are pleased to announce that your Yearbook staff has decided to partner with Lifetouch
Prestige Portraits for your Senior portraits. Seniors will have the choice of being photographed
in-studio or on-campus. To assist your yearbook staff with their publishing deadlines, please make
sure you note the following deadlines, dress codes, and requirements below. For more information

Outfit: Business casual (must be in school dress code)
Important Information:
• Proofs will be ready in 2-3 weeks after sitting date and will be mailed

• Proofs will also be available for viewing online 2-3 weeks after sitting
date, ask consultant for details.
• A $25.00 cancellation fee will be assessed for all no shows on
cancellations without at least 48 hours notice.
• Sitting fee for both in-studio and on-campus is $30 and must be paid
at the time of sitting.

JV GIRLS SOFTBALL TRYOUTS
All girls grade 9 & 10, interested in trying out for JV Softball, tryouts will be on
August 28 and August 29 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Hau'ula District Park. You
must be present at both days of the tryouts. Please see the ALL SPORTS AND
ANY OFF SEASON OPTIONAL WORK OUTS REQUIREMENTS below.
If you have completed your required forms, OPTIONAL practices are everyday from
5:00-7:00 p.m. at Hau'ula District Park. Come prepared with your own glove, cleats
and wear pants. See you there!

STUDENT ATHLETIC ACTIVITY PASSES
Reminder to all students:
1. If you purchased an athletic pass after registration:
a. Pick up your pass from the front office counter.
b. Present an ID, and initial to pick up your pass.
2. For all Inter-League Football Games everyone must pay.
a. If you have an athletic pass, present it at the ticket window to purchase a student
priced ticket. K - 8th grade purchase a student priced ticket.
b. All others will pay General Admission, including students without an athletic pass.
3. For all OIA Season Games of all sports, entrance is free, when you present your
Athletic Card and ID at the gate.GO BIG RED . . .
ALL SPORTS AND ANY OFF SEASON OPTIONAL WORK OUTS REQUIREMENTS
All students Trying Out for Sports or participating in Off Season Optional Work Outs
are required to complete the following:
1. Submit current Sports Physical to the Athletic Trainer.
2. Submit completed Assumption of Risk Form to the Athletic Trainer (one for each sport you participate in).
3. Get a Clearance Form from the Athletic Trainer.
4. Clear all obligations and get Clearance Form signed by the Front Office Clerks.
5. Submit Clearance Form to Coach in order to Try Out or Participate. GO BiG RED !!!

News Flash: You can Down load the GO FAN APP and purchase your tickets on line.
Select the Oahu Interscholastic League, select the Game your purchasing for, and the
type of tickets. Present your phone at the gate showing the tickets purchased to gate
personal, who will select the tickets needed. Friday Games: Ticket gates open 5:30pm.
Saturday Games: Ticket Gates open 4:30pm. GO BiG RED !!!

STUDENT IDENTIFICATION (ID)
A new finger scanning system will be implemented to be used as a method
of student identification in addition to their picture ID. Please see the linked informational letter.
Students will get their first picture ID at no charge. Replacement picture IDs will be $5.00 at the
time of the request. Effective this year, students are required to show their picture ID card or
scan their finger for every meal purchase. Students will not be able to purchase a meal without scanning
their finger or showing their picture ID even if money is available in their account. Negative balances will not be allowed.
FREE AND REDUCED PRICE MEAL APPLICATION
Starting July 15, 2019 online applications will be available at ezmealapp.com.
Please do not submit a paper application if an online application has been submitted.
Please fill out a Free and Reduced Lunch application even if not due prior to Sept. 17
to help KHIS get ack $350,000 in federal funding.
