LOCK OUT
Please note that Lock Out has been moved to the front of the gym.  Students will continue 
to report to the Attendance Office in Q-0 and are required to check in with their School ID 
before getting a Lock Out Pass. Students are expected to have a School ID for safety and 
security purposes as well as eat in the cafe each day.  If you do not have a Student ID, it is
imperative that you get one from Q-0 either before school or during recess.  Mahalo to 
all those who do their part each day by going to class on time! That is the Red Raider Way!!!

LOTS OF STUDENT PUBLICATION FORMS NOT TURNED IN  
The Student Publication/Audio/Video Release Form needs to be turned in for each student every year.  
These forms are for Year Book, Graduation Program, Honor Roll, Sports, and more.  If you need another 
form I have them on the counter in Q1, Registrar's Office.

If you are not feeling well, please go the the school health room in R104.  The health nurse
will call your parent and send you home if necessary.  If you are not on the health room log,

LAST DAY FOR AVID STUDENTS TO PAY FOR PSAT 
All AVID students who signed up for the PSAT in class need to pay today - October 4th by the 
end of HS lunch, or they will be dropped from the roster.  Come at recess or HS lunch and

ACT PREP CLASS OVER FALL BREAK 
An ACT prep class is available over fall break. The class is for next week Monday, Tuesday 
and Wednesday from 2:30 - 6:00 and costs $125. This is a great way to improve your test

PROJECT GRAD FUNDRAISER 
Seniors participating in project grad - we will be selling Krispy Kreme donuts on October 12 
in Kahuku and Laie.  Come to W104 to get your presale tickets.  Students make $5 per ticket.

THE FAFSA IS OPEN! 
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid is open. This application is the best way 
to get help to pay for college. Go to STUDENTAID.GOV/FAFSA for more information. 
KHIS will host several FAFSA help sessions in Oct and Nov for folks who need help 
completing the FAFSA. The first FAFSA night is scheduled for Oct. 18 at 6:30 pm in

GIRLS SOCCER CONDITIONING 
Girls Soccer Conditioning every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.  Meet at 
the tennis courts behind the gym at 3:10pm and bring running shoes, water, and your 
Pink Clearance Form.  Cannot condition without a clearance form.  Come get

ATHLETIC GRADE CHECK 
Student Athletes Friday, 9/28/18 was the cut off for todays Grade Check Report to the 
coaches. A 2nd DOE Grade Check is scheduled for Friday, 10/5/18, please stay on top 
of your grades and classes all week. We will be doing the 2nd check on Friday and this

HORATIO ALGER NATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP 
Seniors in US who have faced and overcome great obstacles in their young lives, a strong 
commitment to achieving a bachelor's degree, planning to attend a university/college in the 
FALL of 2019, demonstrate critical financial need, are involved in co-curricular and community 
service activities, display perseverance in overcoming adversity and maintains a minimum GPA 
of 2.0 or higher. ON-LINE Application Deadline: October 25, 2018 at 5:00pm (Eastern Time)

GROMET FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP 
The Gromet Foundation Scholars Program is for low income students who excel 
academically (GPA of 3.8 or higher) for students attending Hawaii and mainland 
universities. This scholarship is renewable throughout fours years of undergraduate 
education as long as student maintains cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.  Application 
Due Date: October 28, 2017 (mailed directly to Gromet Foundation).

COCA-COLA  SCHOLARS PROGRAM SCHOLARSHIP 
Coca-Cola Scholars Program is an achievement-based scholarship awarded to graduating high 
school seniors.  Students are recognized for their capacity to lead and serve, as well as their 
commitment to making a significant impact on their school.  Application Deadline:

    ASIAN AND PACIFIC ISLANDER AMERICAN SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

    REPLACEMENT ID OFFICE HOURS
    Students may obtain a replacement ID in Q-0,  Mon - Fri 7:30am - 7:55am.
    and recess on Monday, Thursday & Friday,  9:40am - 9:55am, Tuesdays,  9:25am - 11:05am. 
    Wednesdays,  9:25am - 9:40am,  Replacement IDs will not be available during lunch periods, 
    so please plan accordingly. - Admin

    NEW STUDENTS INFINITE CAMPUS ACCOUNTS 
    For new students and 7th graders, your campus accounts can be accessed with a default 
    password. Your username is your 10 digit ID number, and your password is your initials,
    in lower case, and followed by your birthday, 2 digit,  month, day, year. For example, if 
    your name is Mary Jackson and your birthday is 3/19/05, your default password is: 
    mj031905. After you log in you will need to create a new password. Make sure to add 
    your contact email, but do not use your Kahuku google account email, as outside systems 
    cannot contact your Kahuku email address. After you create your account, you can download
    the Infinite Campus app. On the first set up, type "Hawaii" as district and then choose 
    "Hawaii" as your state and "Search." Choose "Hawaii Department of Education". From 
    here you can log in and receive notifications. If you cannot access your account, please

    NO PARKING AT THE DISTRICT PARK
    Due to the construction project at Kahuku District Park, students will not be able to park 
    in the parking lot next to KVA.  No parking will be available on campus for any 
    students for school year 2018-2019.

    DRESS CODE
    The dress code is still in effect. Please see page 19
     in the Red Book to make sure that 
    you are complying with the dress code. Students out of dress code will be asked to change 
    and parents/guardians will be notified for repeated incidents. Please refrain from wearing clothing 

    with excessive rips and holes above the height of the permissible shorts length. Also, remember 
    that any type of clothing displaying inappropriate language/symbols or representing/depicting 
    gangs are prohibited. Dress code violations with threatening messages/images will be treated as 
    serious Chapter 19 offenses. - Admin

    DETENTION FOR UNEXCUSED ABSENCES
    Student will be assigned one hour of detention for the THIRD and every 
    unexcused absence for EVERY period.  An hour of detention will also be added for each 
    unexcused absence for each period. You will get a pass to Ms. Aga's class R201 after school
    from your last period teacher to serve your detention. Detention time not served will turn into 
    an obligation and will need to be served before being cleared for activities that require an obligation

    YOU CAN SUBMIT YOUR NOTES FOR STUDENTS' EXCUSED ABSENCES VIA EMAIL
    All excused absences (pls. see the RedBook for excusable reasons) require a note from a parent/guardian
    within three (3) days of the excused absence.  The email address is [email protected]

    PERSONAL ITEM DELIVERY
    Due to the amount of personal items delivered to students, unless it is deemed
    an emergency, students will need to come to the front office to get their items during 
    recess or lunch. Instructional time will not be interrupted and school personnel will not
    be utilized for the purpose of delivering personal items.            - Admin

    STUDENT OFF CAMPUS PASS
    Students leaving campus during the school day are required to have an official Student Pass.
    To expedite the process of a student getting a Student Pass, parents/guardians are advised to
    call the school at 305-7380 in the morning or send a note with your child and drop it off at
    Q-0 before school starts. Without prior notice, the wait time to get a student out of class 
    will vary depending on the availability of staff. We do not call classrooms during 
    instructional time. 

    Please include the following information in the note for a Student Pass:
    1. Date note was written
    2. Child's legal name and grade level 
    3. Date and time to be released
    4. Reason for early release
    5. Current phone number
    6. Parent/guardian signature

    Students who are 18 years old may sign themselves out of school, however, parent/guardians 
    will be notified and students will need administrative approval to be allowed back on campus.
    You will be asked to present identification when picking up your child. Students will only be
    released to their parent/guardian documented in school records (this does not include 
    Emergency Card contacts). The Student Pass must be returned to the front office if the 
    student returns to school before the end of the day. - Admin
