Effective immediately, students will be assigned one hour of detention for the THIRD and every unexcused absence for EVERY period (pls. see the RedBook for this policy and excusable reasons). An hour of detention will be added for each unexcused absence for each period. Students will get a pass from their last period teacher reflecting their detention time to be served in Ms. Aga's class (R201) after school. Detention time not served will turn into an obligation and will need to be served before being cleared for activities that require an obligation clearance. Interested in AVID program at KHIS? Apply now!

AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination)

This class is a yearlong academic support program for grades 7-12 that prepares students for college eligibility and success. Academically average students who want to succeed in advanced classes in intermediate and high school should take the AVID class to receive supports in study habits and higher order thinking. Students who are traditionally underrepresented in college such as from ethnic minorities, first in family to attend college, or low income will also benefit from the explicit college preparatory orientation. Head Coach of Varsity Football Selected

Kahuku High and Intermediate School is happy to announce the selection of Coach Sterling Carvalho as the new Head Coach of Varsity Football.
Coach Carvalho has been the KHIS Head JV Coach for the past three years and has coached multiple athletic teams for over 17 years. He is committed to the success of our student athletes in all aspects of our football program. Congratulations, Coach Carvalho!
