10TH GRADE STUDENTS
Those of you that participated in our Field Trip for Mock Interviews. Congratulations. We had
176 students participate last week Thursday and Friday. The data showed that 90% of you would
have been called to be interviewed based on your cover letters and resume. 62 of you would
have been hired on the spot making it 35%. 83 of you would have been hired eventually at 47%.
The last 15% would have gotten a 2nd interview. I am so proud of you with the confidence and

21ST CENTURY KAHUKU COMPLEX LEARNING CENTERS (KCLC) PROGRAM

This program proposal would be for a program that you would like to offer to KHIS students
for grades 7-12. There are three main focus areas of 21st Century KCLC : Academic,

SPRING FOOTBALL PRACTICES
TO: All students in grades 9-11 interested in playing football this upcoming season... there will
be SPRING PRACTICES beginning, Monday, May 6th thru the 22nd. Practice, weight lifting,

will be passing out the workout calendar for spring (May) & summer (July). First day of optionals
is Monday, May 6th, and all required paperwork needs to be turned in and approved before you can

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL OPTIONAL WORKOUTS
All girls wanting to get ready for volleyball tryouts in July, we will be holding optional
workouts in the gym beginning on May 6. Please pick up a permission forms from the
front office or from AD Anae. Completed and signed permission forms and the ALL
SPORTS OFF SEASON OPTIONAL WORKOUT REQUIREMENTS are mandatory
for participation.
Current 8th Graders:
1. Pick up permission forms from front office.

FOOTBALL OPTIONAL WORK OUTS FOR GRADE 8 STUDENTS
To participate in optional work outs, please pick-up a permission form from the front office or P-23.
The permission form needs to be submitted to the front office or Mrs. Vimahi in P-23. Once the form is
submitted, Mrs. Vimahi will give students the March calendar outlining the dates/times of the optional
work outs. Please include email address on the permission form if you want the March calendar to be sent

High School students will also need to meet the All Sports and Any Off Season Optional Work Outs
Requirements (please see below) to participate in the optional work outs. The permission form will need
to be submitted to Mrs. Vimahi in P-23. Once the form is submitted and student is cleared by the Athletic
Trainer, Mrs. Vimahi will give students the March calendar outlining the dates/times for the optional work

News Flash: You can Down load the GO FAN APP and purchase your tickets on line.
Select the Oahu Interscholastic League, select the Game your purchasing for, and the
type of tickets. Present your phone at the gate showing the tickets purchased to gate
personal, who will select the tickets needed. Friday Games: Ticket gates open 5:30pm.

DISTRICT PARK CONSTRUCTION
The District Park construction is officially over and the lights are up. According to Parks
and Recreation staff, the parking lot is now reserved for park users only. Please plan
accordingly. -Admin
FOOTBALL OR VOLLEYBALL DURING RECESS/LUNCH
Effective immediately, students will not be allowed to play with footballs or volleyballs
during recess and lunch. Anyone with a ball will be asked to secure it in their bags.
Failure to comply will result in balls being confiscated for the remainder of the year.
Safety is our main concern. -Admin
ATTENDANCE POLICY INFORMATION
-Excused Extended Absence Request Form: Please remember to submit this form to your
child's grade level counselor for all absences between 4-10 days in length at least 10 days prior
to the planned absences. The excusable reasons for extended absences are outlined on the form.
The counselor and will route the form to your child's teachers, then to his/her grade level
administrator for final approval.
-Health Room Passes: Unless it is an emergency, students are required to get a pass from their
classroom teacher prior to going to the Health Room. Students' parent/guardian will be notified
and given a Student Pass from the Health Room if he/she needs to go home.
-Notes/Emails for Excused Absences: All excused absences (please see the Red Book for excusable
reasons) require a note from a parent/guardian within three (3) days of the excused absence. Notes
can be emailed to [email protected]. Written notes can also be submitted to the Front Office,
Q0, or Q1.
-Attendance Detention Policy: Due to a change in procedures, all current accumulated detention
hours for students will be erased for Quarters 1-3. Effective immediately, classes missed without
a parent/guardian note or email to excuse the absence may be subject to the Chapter 19 Policy.

EXCAVATION WORK ON CAMPUS
Starting Monday, April 15, there will be excavation work right in front of the library
heading towards the football field. The excavation will be 3-4 weeks long. Please expect
delays with traffic flow and loud noise during the excavation period. A contraflow lane
will be provided throughout this work. Also, please adhere to the no parking signs posted
during the excavation work. Work area will be barricaded for safety. If you have any

ID INFORMATION
Please be advised that replacement IDs cost $5 each. Parents/Guardians will
get notification of their child’s replacement ID fees via quarterly report cards. You can
also call 305-7394 to get information on replacement ID fees. Replacement ID fees are
considered student obligations and need to be paid prior to students participating in
extra-curricular activities. -Every replacement ID gets a brand new code so students will
not be able to use their old IDs to get school meals. This prevents other students from
using lost/stolen IDs to purchase school meals.
Students are required to show their ID to get a school meal. Students may obtain a
replacement ID in Q-0, Mon - Fri 7:30am - 7:55am. and recess on Monday, Thursday &
Friday, 9:40am - 9:55am, Tuesdays, 9:25am - 11:05am. Wednesdays, 9:25am - 9:40am,
Replacement IDs will not be available during lunch periods. -Admin
MOMO CHALLENGE INFORMATION
A recent concern has come to light of a very serious nature. It is the lastest in a series of online
challenges that target youth and teens. It is call the MOMO CHALLENGE. An important memo from
Complex Area Superintendent Matt Ho, along with a detailed flyer are posted on our school website, as well
as in the parent/student bulletin. Please call the school at 305-7300, if you have questions or concerns.

NO STUDENT/UNAUTHORIZED PARKING ON CAMPUS
No student parking is allowed on campus. If you have received a written on your car and are authorized to be
parking on campus, please see a clerk in the front office for a school sticker (permanent faculty/staff) or for a
temporary parking pass. Substitutes and visitors will be asked to provide vehicle information when signing in.

All students receive the Daily Bulletin via students' Gmail account. - Admin
NEW INFINITE CAMPUS APP
The app that currently is used to view online grades, infinite campus, now has an entirely
new version which must be downloaded. Be sure to download the appropriate app as a
parent or student, as they are different and won't work with your log in if you are not using
the correct one. The current infinite campus app will soon be discontinued. Please call

how the app works, and contact your grade level counselor if you are having trouble

NEW LOCK OUT PROCEDURES
Due to students going to Lock Out to purposefully avoid class, time in Lock Out will be
marked as unexcused absences. Students will not be able to get make-up work or be excused
from work missed while in Lock Out. Unexcused absences will also count towards
accumulated detention hours. As a reminder, students who are found roaming on campus
instead of going to Lock Out, will get a referral for class cutting, insubordination, and/or
truancy. We are working on setting up a separate daily phone message to report the periods
that students spend in Lock Out. It is important to be in class and to get to class on time!

Redbooks can be purchased in the front office during recess, lunch or after school.

DRESS CODE
The dress code is still in effect. Please see page 19 in the Red Book to make sure that
you are complying with the dress code. Students out of dress code will be asked to change
and parents/guardians will be notified for repeated incidents. Please refrain from wearing clothing
with excessive rips and holes above the height of the permissible shorts length. Also, remember
that any type of clothing displaying inappropriate language/symbols or representing/depicting
gangs are prohibited. Dress code violations with threatening messages/images will be treated as
serious Chapter 19 offenses. - Admin
DETENTION FOR UNEXCUSED ABSENCES
Student will be assigned one hour of detention for the THIRD and every
unexcused absence for EVERY period. An hour of detention will also be added for each
unexcused absence for each period. You will get a pass to Ms. Aga's class R201 after school
from your last period teacher to serve your detention. Detention time not served will turn into
an obligation and will need to be served before being cleared for activities that require an obligation
clearance. If you have any questions, please see Ms. Aga or call her at 305-7446. Mahalo.

PERSONAL ITEM DELIVERY
Due to the amount of personal items delivered to students, unless it is deemed
an emergency, students will need to come to the front office to get their items during
recess or lunch. Instructional time will not be interrupted and school personnel will not
be utilized for the purpose of delivering personal items. - Admin
STUDENT OFF CAMPUS PASS
Students leaving campus during the school day are required to have an official Student Pass.
To expedite the process of a student getting a Student Pass, parents/guardians are advised to
call the school at 305-7380 in the morning or send a note with your child and drop it off at
Q-0 before school starts. Without prior notice, the wait time to get a student out of class
will vary depending on the availability of staff. We do not call classrooms during
instructional time.
Please include the following information in the note for a Student Pass:
1. Date note was written
2. Child's legal name and grade level
3. Date and time to be released
4. Reason for early release
5. Current phone number
6. Parent/guardian signature
Students who are 18 years old may sign themselves out of school, however, parent/guardians
will be notified and students will need administrative approval to be allowed back on campus.
You will be asked to present identification when picking up your child. Students will only be
released to their parent/guardian documented in school records (this does not include
Emergency Card contacts). The Student Pass must be returned to the front office if the
student returns to school before the end of the day. - Admin
