Students may obtain a replacement ID in Q-0,  Mon - Fri 7:30am - 7:55am.
and recess on Monday, Thursday & Friday,  9:40am - 9:55am, Tuesdays,  9:25am - 11:05am. 
Wednesdays,  9:25am - 9:40am,  Replacement IDs will not be available during lunch periods,

Girls Soccer Conditioning every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday from 3:00-4:15pm.  
Meet at the tennis courts behind the gym with running shoes and water.  *You must bring a 
clearance form in order to condition.  Now's the time to get back in to shape before the

1ST INTERMEDIATE SCIENCE CLUB MEETING AND PIZZA EXPERIMENT 
NEXT WEDNESDAY SEPT 5 Do you like doing experiments, need help with Science 
Fair, want to be apart of the Science Olympic team?? We will be having the first 
Intermediate Science Club meeting and pizza eating experiment next Wednesday right

GROMET FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP 
The Gromet Foundation Scholars Program is for low income students who excel 
academically (GPA of 3.8 or higher) for students attending Hawaii and mainland 
universities. This scholarship is renewable throughout fours years of undergraduate 
education as long as student maintains cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.  Application 
Due Date: October 28, 2017 (mailed directly to Gromet Foundation).

HEY SENIORS 
Did you miss the Parent Meeting on August 28?  If so, please pick up a packet in Q2 and 
have your parents make an appointment to meet with the principal to go over the senior 
contract.  Also - senior social is on Monday from 10 am - 1 pm.  All participants must 
have a signed permission form turned in to attend.  We have some fun activities planned.

Slots are filling up quickly for the blood drive.  Please turn in your forms as soon as possible

ROTARY INTERACT CLUB MEETING IN R103... 
We are excited to be announcing the beginning of our INTERACT CLUB HERE AT KAHUKU. 
INTERACT IS A PART OF THE ROTARY CLUBS OF HAWAII, A National Segice Oriented 
club that has many benefits to students who join. We will be having our first INTERACT CLUB 
meeting on September 5th, 2018 right after school in R103. If you need service hours, want to 
meet new people, or want a way to network here is a great opportunity for you.   K. Kalama

GRADE CHECKS 
This Friday, 8/31 is the next Grade Check deadline.  Reminder students to check 
with your teachers that all assignments are turned in.  Check your on-line grades 
on infinite campus.  All ARS are required to attend study hall, or a specific teacher 
in a specific course for that extra clarification or extra help.Show Initiative,

MANDARIN CLUB 
For those interested in learning Mandarin Chinese language and culture, we are going to
meet at 7:30 am in the morning.  You can practice daily useful conversation, basic Tai 
Chi and more.  Please come to see Mr. Lin at p14 and pick up a sign up form by Friday

News Flash: You can Down load the GO FAN APP and purchase your tickets on line.
Select the Oahu Interscholastic League, select the Game your purchasing for, and the type of tickets.
Present your phone at the gate showing the tickets purchased to gate personal, who will select the

If you are in high school and are interested in playing Water Polo this school year please come

NEW STUDENTS INFINITE CAMPUS ACCOUNTS 
For new students and 7th graders, your campus accounts can be accessed with a default 
password. Your username is your 10 digit ID number, and your password is your initials,
in lower case, and followed by your birthday, 2 digit,  month, day, year. For example, if 
your name is Mary Jackson and your birthday is 3/19/05, your default password is: 
mj031905. After you log in you will need to create a new password. Make sure to add 
your contact email, but do not use your Kahuku google account email, as outside systems 
cannot contact your Kahuku email address. After you create your account, you can download
the Infinite Campus app. On the first set up, type "Hawaii" as district and then choose 
"Hawaii" as your state and "Search." Choose "Hawaii Department of Education". From 
here you can log in and receive notifications. If you cannot access your account, please

NO PARKING AT THE DISTRICT PARK
Due to the construction project at Kahuku District Park, students will not be able to park 
in the parking lot next to KVA.  No parking will be available on campus for any 
students for school year 2018-2019.

DRESS CODE
The dress code is still in effect. Please see page 19
 in the Red Book to make sure that 
you are complying with the dress code. Students out of dress code will be asked to change 
and parents/guardians will be notified for repeated incidents. Please refrain from wearing clothing 

with excessive rips and holes above the height of the permissible shorts length. Also, remember 
that any type of clothing displaying inappropriate language/symbols or representing/depicting 
gangs are prohibited. Dress code violations with threatening messages/images will be treated as 
serious Chapter 19 offenses. - Admin

DETENTION FOR UNEXCUSED ABSENCES
Student will be assigned one hour of detention for the THIRD and every 
unexcused absence for EVERY period.  An hour of detention will also be added for each 
unexcused absence for each period. You will get a pass to Ms. Aga's class R201 after school
from your last period teacher to serve your detention. Detention time not served will turn into 
an obligation and will need to be served before being cleared for activities that require an obligation 
clearance. If you have any questions, please see Ms. Aga or call her at 305-7446. Mahalo.

All excused absences (pls. see the RedBook for excusable reasons) require a note from a parent/guardian
within three (3) days of the excused absence.  The email address is [email protected]

PERSONAL ITEM DELIVERY
Due to the amount of personal items delivered to students, unless it is deemed
an emergency, students will need to come to the front office to get their items during 
recess or lunch. Instructional time will not be interrupted and school personnel will not
be utilized for the purpose of delivering personal items.            - Admin

STUDENT OFF CAMPUS PASS
Students leaving campus during the school day are required to have an official Student Pass.
To expedite the process of a student getting a Student Pass, parents/guardians are advised to
call the school at 305-7380 in the morning or send a note with your child and drop it off at
Q-0 before school starts. Without prior notice, the wait time to get a student out of class 
will vary depending on the availability of staff. We do not call classrooms during 
instructional time. 

Please include the following information in the note for a Student Pass:
1. Date note was written
2. Child's legal name and grade level 
3. Date and time to be released
4. Reason for early release
5. Current phone number
6. Parent/guardian signature

Students who are 18 years old may sign themselves out of school, however, parent/guardians 
will be notified and students will need administrative approval to be allowed back on campus.
You will be asked to present identification when picking up your child. Students will only be
released to their parent/guardian documented in school records (this does not include 
Emergency Card contacts). The Student Pass must be returned to the front office if the 
student returns to school before the end of the day. - Admin
