Arts and Communication (Period 7)
Course Description
This course introduces and refines skills in arts and communications on the introductory level. Projects include experiences in dry media such as pencil, pastels, charcoal, and wet media such as ink, watercolor, tempera, acrylics, and digital media. Creativity, Design, Intent, aesthetics, craftsmanship and originality will be assessed through the use of the elements and principles of design. Good composition, visual organization, development of creative thinking, and visual problem solving will be emphasized through studio projects, visual thinking and art criticism. We will draw, paint, and use mixed media in our attempts to describe life and pursue art for life’s sake. This is your chance to tell your story, the story of your generation, history, culture, and interests through art. Students will learn how people have used art to tie to a career. We will analyze how art can be a valuable career path and help develop technological skills to create art.
