  • National Title- History Day - 7th and 8th places plus Outstanding State Entry, Senior Division and Special WWII Awards
  • National/World Title- Bradina Anae Wins The World Competition and breaks 2 world records in Bench (286lbs) and Deadlift (435lbs), and is named BEST OVERALL LIFTER in POWERLIFTING 2014 (School Year 2014--2015)
  • Kahuku Speech and Debate team won double sweepstakes trophies in speech, for highest number of superiors and highest % of superiors at Punahou School. With over 300 competitors and 18 schools in attendance (mostly private schools), Kahuku proved superior both in quantity and quality.

2012 Highlights of Academic and Athletic Achievements

  • Kahuku High School linebacker Benetton “Benny” Fonua signed a Letter of Intent to play for the UH-Manoa Warriors while defensive back Mekelo Barkley Fiso signed with the Western Oregon Wolves.
  • The Kahuku Band won the 2nd Annual Kapolei Marching Band Festival, earning top honors out of 14 high school bands. 
  • Kahuku JROTC took first place at the statewide West Point Society Drill Meet last month, when more than 200 cadets from 20-plus schools competed.
  • Kahuku High School students prevailed in the We the People Competition. The team, led by advisor Jan Harney, bested three teams from Iolani and a charter school as well as others, and is bound for the national competition. The program is designed to encourage and enhance the teaching, study, and understanding of American history and the democratic principles of the U.S. Constitution.
  • Kahuku beats Punahou to win Division I state football title
  • For the first time in the We the People Competition, an elementary school fielded an exhibition team. Laie Elementary fifth graders and their advisors Colleen Spring, Sandy Alulii, Lisa Morelock, and Sineha Tupolu, demonstrated through courtroom arguments, a degree of proficiency regarding the Constitution that would be the envy of many AP US history teachers.
  • In March, Kamehameha School students joined Kahuku students for a simulated congressional hearing hosted by the Hawaii State Judiciary.
  • The Kahuku Army Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps Program was recognized as an Honor Unit with Distinction for Hawaii. Members from the 8th Brigade, U.S. Army Cadet Command of Ft. Lewis, Wash., oversaw a formal inspection of 18 areas including a drill team performance. This distinction earned Kahuku five appointments to the nation’s military academies.
  • General Michael J. Terry of the Sustainability Command, officials from Ulupono Initiative, Kokua Hawaii Foundation and Malaekahana Hui visited with the president and vice--president of Kahuku's Sustainability Club.
  • In January, Kahuku Alum Jack Johnson (Class of 93), launched Kahuku Green Ribbon School Initiatives to the entire student body.
  • Kahuku High and Intermediate held a Mock Congress event at Turtle Bay Hilton on March 8, 2012. 
  • The Windward District Science and Engineering Fair, held at Windward Community College on February 9, 10 and 11 had student projects from 15 of the 16 Kahuku schools. In all, 28 Windward public schools and one charter school had science fair projects. Windward District vice-principals coordinated the fair this year.
  • The Windward District’s History Day will be held at the King Cafeteria on Sat., February 18. Student projects will include research papers, displays, performances, Web sites and documentaries. Winners recommended by the judges at the Windward District Science Fair and History Day will go on the state level competitions.
  • Kahuku High’s Girls and Boys Varsity Basketball teams made it to the state championship playoffs.
  • For the first time ever in Kahuku's history, all presidencies of all of Kahuku's clubs met to set initiatives for Kahuku Green Initiative Summit hosted by Coach Uila in May 2012. Community representives included First WInd, Kokua Hawaii Foundation, Synagro, Malaekahana Hui and Rep. Gil Riviere.

  • RED TV 2010-2012, 18 Episodes:  A substantial part of the TV footage was planned, produced, filmed and edited by the Kahuku Film Club. School news and educational video content.
  • Documentary of the Making of the Kahuku Wind Farms: First Wind, 2011

  • Cheerfest, Songfest, Brown Bags, Vocal Motion’s Performances, Speech & Debate winning performances, Interviews with 2011 State Champion Football team, Green Ribbon School kickoff, etc
  • The Kahuku Film Club was honored by the Honolulu City Council for Youth Achievement.
  • Produced News Segment for PBS student news program: Hiki No
  • Students wrote, directed, filmed and edited video segment on Vocal Motion & inspirational Chorus teacher- 2011.
  • Filmed Hearings at the State Capital & Interviewed Legislators 
  • Filmed two Hearings of on “Film, Art & Education” by the Culture & the Arts Committee. Highlights shown on Olelo Public Television, 2011.
  • Interviewed & Filmed Local State Legislators at opening day at the Capitol. Aired on Olelo Public Television-2012.
  • Hosted & Filmed Kahuku visit of State of Hawaii’s Creative Services Director, 
  • Planned visit to Kahuku of Georja Skinner, head of the Creative Services Division for the State of Hawaii. Performances by Vocal Motion, Speech & Debate, Brown Bag singers, short Film Showcase of student’s works. Interviewed & Filmed Ms Skinner on her career.
