Zero Tolerance Policy

The Legislature passed two laws to ensure that school campuses are safe. Act 90 allows for suspensions of up to 92 days for possession, use or sale of drugs or alcohol or the use of any item as a weapon.
A new compulsory attendance law, Act 162 provides administrators and parents with the right to release chronically disruptive or truant students who are 16 years old or older.
The Gun Free Schools Act mandates that any student found in possession of a gun or firearm be suspended from school for one year from all public schools across the nation.
Hazing occurs when a person knowingly requires the performance of any act by a student for the purpose of induction or admission into any group and such actions are strictly prohibited.
