FEDERAL SURVEY CARDS 
We have  1 class so far that turned in 100%, We are looking to award 19 more classes, 
so bring those federal survey cards in to your period 1 teacher as the deadline is fast 
approaching.  Deadline: September 10th.  Good luck!   - Front office       

HOSA MEETING 
Tuesday at lunch in W104.  We will be voting for officers.  All members and all

ACT & SAT REGISTRATION FEE WAIVERS ARE IN ..... 
The ACT & SAT Waivers have ARRIVED .. Seniors who are interested in attending a College or 
University and who are currently on FREE or REDUCED lunch may qualify for a fee waiver.  
See Mrs. Fonoimoana in Q2 for those waivers.

BLOOD DRIVE 
If you signed up for the blood drive, you should receive your appointment time on Friday. 
If you don't get it, stop by W104.  Make sure to prepare by eating well over the weekend 
and on Monday, and by drinking lots of water!!   A. Swiderski

INVITATION TO ATTEND JROTC REMEMBRANCE DAY CEREMONY FOR 
17TH ANNIVERSARY OF SEPTEMBER 11TH 
All staff, faculty, and students are invited to attend the JROTC Remembrance Day 
Ceremony for the 17th Anniversary of September 11th. The ceremony will begin at 
7:45am at the flag pole. Please be at the flag pole at 7:40am.     D. Dorado

SENIOR CLASS PICTURE 
The senior class yearbook picture will be taken during advisory on September 12.  
Students are allowed to make one sign, no larger than 11'x17'.  Please no gang, drug,

GRADUATION CAP & GOWN ORDERING DAY - WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 19, 2019 
Seniors & Graduating Juniors: A  representative from Josten's will be on campus on 
Wednesday, September 19th to collect your orders, don't forget your ordering forms and

MILITARY PRESENTATION IN Q2 
Seniors:  NO plans after graduation, considering the Military as a viable option. Join us
in Q2 during period 6 on Thursday, September 13th for a presentation on the benefits

WORK FORCE! CAREER FAIR!  
Amanda McCauley Senior Counselor and the College & Career Center would like to 
invite those Seniors who have not yet decided what they want to do after graduation on 
a field trip! Field trip is on Tuesday, September 18 at the Neal Blaisdell Center for a  
work force, career fair. If you are interested please come and get a permission form

News Flash: You can Down load the GO FAN APP and purchase your tickets on line.
Select the Oahu Interscholastic League, select the Game your purchasing for, and the type of tickets.
Present your phone at the gate showing the tickets purchased to gate personal, who will select the 
tickets needed. Friday Games: Ticket gates open 5:30pm. Saturday Games:  Ticket Gates open 4:30pm

GROMET FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP 
The Gromet Foundation Scholars Program is for low income students who excel 
academically (GPA of 3.8 or higher) for students attending Hawaii and mainland 
universities. This scholarship is renewable throughout fours years of undergraduate 
education as long as student maintains cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.  Application 
Due Date: October 28, 2017 (mailed directly to Gromet Foundation).

Kahuku High and Intermediate School receives funding that will benefit all students based 
on a percentage of eligible students by September 18. In addition to the individual benefits 
that can be seen here, KHIS receives funding for personnel, supplies, and teacher training
if applications are received before the due date! Paper applications are available in the office.

REPLACEMENT ID OFFICE HOURS
Students may obtain a replacement ID in Q-0,  Mon - Fri 7:30am - 7:55am.
and recess on Monday, Thursday & Friday,  9:40am - 9:55am, Tuesdays,  9:25am - 11:05am. 
Wednesdays,  9:25am - 9:40am,  Replacement IDs will not be available during lunch periods, 
so please plan accordingly. - Admin

NEW STUDENTS INFINITE CAMPUS ACCOUNTS 
For new students and 7th graders, your campus accounts can be accessed with a default 
password. Your username is your 10 digit ID number, and your password is your initials,
in lower case, and followed by your birthday, 2 digit,  month, day, year. For example, if 
your name is Mary Jackson and your birthday is 3/19/05, your default password is: 
mj031905. After you log in you will need to create a new password. Make sure to add 
your contact email, but do not use your Kahuku google account email, as outside systems 
cannot contact your Kahuku email address. After you create your account, you can download
the Infinite Campus app. On the first set up, type "Hawaii" as district and then choose 
"Hawaii" as your state and "Search." Choose "Hawaii Department of Education". From 
here you can log in and receive notifications. If you cannot access your account, please

Redbooks can be purchased in the front office during recess, lunch or after school.

NO PARKING AT THE DISTRICT PARK
Due to the construction project at Kahuku District Park, students will not be able to park 
in the parking lot next to KVA.  No parking will be available on campus for any 
students for school year 2018-2019.

DRESS CODE
The dress code is still in effect. Please see page 19
 in the Red Book to make sure that 
you are complying with the dress code. Students out of dress code will be asked to change 
and parents/guardians will be notified for repeated incidents. Please refrain from wearing clothing 

with excessive rips and holes above the height of the permissible shorts length. Also, remember 
that any type of clothing displaying inappropriate language/symbols or representing/depicting 
gangs are prohibited. Dress code violations with threatening messages/images will be treated as 
serious Chapter 19 offenses. - Admin

DETENTION FOR UNEXCUSED ABSENCES
Student will be assigned one hour of detention for the THIRD and every 
unexcused absence for EVERY period.  An hour of detention will also be added for each 
unexcused absence for each period. You will get a pass to Ms. Aga's class R201 after school
from your last period teacher to serve your detention. Detention time not served will turn into 
an obligation and will need to be served before being cleared for activities that require an obligation 
clearance. If you have any questions, please see Ms. Aga or call her at 305-7446. Mahalo.

YOU CAN SUBMIT YOUR NOTES FOR STUDENTS' EXCUSED ABSENCES VIA EMAIL
All excused absences (pls. see the RedBook for excusable reasons) require a note from a parent/guardian
within three (3) days of the excused absence.  The email address is [email protected]

PERSONAL ITEM DELIVERY
Due to the amount of personal items delivered to students, unless it is deemed
an emergency, students will need to come to the front office to get their items during 
recess or lunch. Instructional time will not be interrupted and school personnel will not
be utilized for the purpose of delivering personal items.            - Admin

STUDENT OFF CAMPUS PASS
Students leaving campus during the school day are required to have an official Student Pass.
To expedite the process of a student getting a Student Pass, parents/guardians are advised to
call the school at 305-7380 in the morning or send a note with your child and drop it off at
Q-0 before school starts. Without prior notice, the wait time to get a student out of class 
will vary depending on the availability of staff. We do not call classrooms during 
instructional time. 

Please include the following information in the note for a Student Pass:
1. Date note was written
2. Child's legal name and grade level 
3. Date and time to be released
4. Reason for early release
5. Current phone number
6. Parent/guardian signature

Students who are 18 years old may sign themselves out of school, however, parent/guardians 
will be notified and students will need administrative approval to be allowed back on campus.
You will be asked to present identification when picking up your child. Students will only be
released to their parent/guardian documented in school records (this does not include 
Emergency Card contacts). The Student Pass must be returned to the front office if the 
student returns to school before the end of the day. - Admin
