Kahuku High and Intermediate School receives funding that will benefit all students based 
on a percentage of eligible students by September 18. In addition to the individual benefits 
that can be seen here, KHIS receives funding for personnel, supplies, and teacher training
if applications are received before the due date! Paper applications are available in the office.

SENIORS CHEERFEST UPDATES 
We need tshirt sizes for all participating in cheerfest by Wednesday, Sept 19.  This 
week practice - Tuesday and Thursday 6:30-8 on the sunset bleachers.  Wednesday

Seniors in US who have faced and overcome great obstacles in their young lives, a strong

service activities, display perseverance in overcoming adversity and maintains a minimum GPA

COCA-COLA  SCHOLARS PROGRAM SCHOLARSHIP 
Coca-Cola Scholars Program is an achievement-based scholarship awarded to graduating high

HOMECOMING DANCE... 
SEPTEMBER 22nd 6-10PM at TURTLE BAY. There are only a limited amount of seats 
available for the dance. Hurry and get your tickets TODAY. This is a HIGH SCHOOL 
Dance and only for Kahuku Students, sorry no visitors. There will be prize giveaways,
dinner, dancing and lots of school spirit. Go see MRS. SWIDERSKI (W104) or MRS. 
PEAY (Y201) for your permission forms and to pay your money. No Money will be 
taken at the door last chance to buy tickets is September 21, 2018 at the end of the school

The deadline for all senior portraits to be taken with Portraits of Hawaii is 
October 14th, 2018 there will be no extensions to this. Please call Portraits of

Deadline to submit a digital or hardcopy of either is October 14th, 2018 at 3PM.

JUNIOR CLASS 2020 SOCIAL 
Our Junior Social will be held on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018 @ Kakela Beach Park 
from 10:00am - 1:00pm.  There will be lots of food, activities, dancing and tons 
of memories to be had with your fellow classmates.  Pick up permission forms 
from R201 or R-203 today.  Don't forget to pay your class dues at the front office.

JUNIOR CLASS CHEERFEST PRACTICE 
We will be having cheerfest practice EVERY TUESDAY & THURSDAY NIGHT on 
the Sunset Bleachers from 6:30pm - 8:00pm.  On WEDNESDAYS, practice will be 
right after school at the sunset bleachers 2pm - 3:30pm.  T-shirts will be $10 and 
can be paid to me or Mrs. Uluave (R-201/R-203).  Calling everyone from the

DRIVER EDUCATION 
Kahuku High Driver Traffic & Safety Education Program. Session 7- Driver Education 
Class  will begin on September 19, 2018 & will end approximately December 8, 2018,
All students who has valid State of Hawaii's Driver's Licence Learner Permit, May 
pick-up an application (space limited) and schedule at  School's office, Starting 
September 10, 2018. Registration will be held in P-9 on  September 18, 2018 at 4:15 
PM-5:15 PM (One day only) Bring completed application, Parent Contract signed 
current State of Hawaii's Driver's Licence Learner Permit and fee of  $10.00 
Enrollment is limited.  Only 30 students will be accepted. You must be able to attend 
all classes on-time. No absences or tardiness are allowed.  If you have any questions

GRADUATION CAP & GOWN ORDERING DAY - WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 19, 2019

GROMET FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP 
The Gromet Foundation Scholars Program is for low income students who excel 
academically (GPA of 3.8 or higher) for students attending Hawaii and mainland 
universities. This scholarship is renewable throughout fours years of undergraduate 
education as long as student maintains cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.  Application 
Due Date: October 28, 2017 (mailed directly to Gromet Foundation).

REPLACEMENT ID OFFICE HOURS
Students may obtain a replacement ID in Q-0,  Mon - Fri 7:30am - 7:55am.
and recess on Monday, Thursday & Friday,  9:40am - 9:55am, Tuesdays,  9:25am - 11:05am. 
Wednesdays,  9:25am - 9:40am,  Replacement IDs will not be available during lunch periods, 
so please plan accordingly. - Admin

NEW STUDENTS INFINITE CAMPUS ACCOUNTS 
For new students and 7th graders, your campus accounts can be accessed with a default 
password. Your username is your 10 digit ID number, and your password is your initials,
in lower case, and followed by your birthday, 2 digit,  month, day, year. For example, if 
your name is Mary Jackson and your birthday is 3/19/05, your default password is: 
mj031905. After you log in you will need to create a new password. Make sure to add 
your contact email, but do not use your Kahuku google account email, as outside systems 
cannot contact your Kahuku email address. After you create your account, you can download
the Infinite Campus app. On the first set up, type "Hawaii" as district and then choose 
"Hawaii" as your state and "Search." Choose "Hawaii Department of Education". From 
here you can log in and receive notifications. If you cannot access your account, please

NO PARKING AT THE DISTRICT PARK
Due to the construction project at Kahuku District Park, students will not be able to park 
in the parking lot next to KVA.  No parking will be available on campus for any 
students for school year 2018-2019.

DRESS CODE
The dress code is still in effect. Please see page 19
 in the Red Book to make sure that 
you are complying with the dress code. Students out of dress code will be asked to change 
and parents/guardians will be notified for repeated incidents. Please refrain from wearing clothing 

with excessive rips and holes above the height of the permissible shorts length. Also, remember 
that any type of clothing displaying inappropriate language/symbols or representing/depicting 
gangs are prohibited. Dress code violations with threatening messages/images will be treated as 
serious Chapter 19 offenses. - Admin

DETENTION FOR UNEXCUSED ABSENCES
Student will be assigned one hour of detention for the THIRD and every 
unexcused absence for EVERY period.  An hour of detention will also be added for each 
unexcused absence for each period. You will get a pass to Ms. Aga's class R201 after school
from your last period teacher to serve your detention. Detention time not served will turn into 
an obligation and will need to be served before being cleared for activities that require an obligation 
clearance. If you have any questions, please see Ms. Aga or call her at 305-7446. Mahalo.

YOU CAN SUBMIT YOUR NOTES FOR STUDENTS' EXCUSED ABSENCES VIA EMAIL
All excused absences (pls. see the RedBook for excusable reasons) require a note from a parent/guardian
within three (3) days of the excused absence.  The email address is [email protected]

PERSONAL ITEM DELIVERY
Due to the amount of personal items delivered to students, unless it is deemed
an emergency, students will need to come to the front office to get their items during 
recess or lunch. Instructional time will not be interrupted and school personnel will not
be utilized for the purpose of delivering personal items.            - Admin

STUDENT OFF CAMPUS PASS
Students leaving campus during the school day are required to have an official Student Pass.
To expedite the process of a student getting a Student Pass, parents/guardians are advised to
call the school at 305-7380 in the morning or send a note with your child and drop it off at
Q-0 before school starts. Without prior notice, the wait time to get a student out of class 
will vary depending on the availability of staff. We do not call classrooms during 
instructional time. 

Please include the following information in the note for a Student Pass:
1. Date note was written
2. Child's legal name and grade level 
3. Date and time to be released
4. Reason for early release
5. Current phone number
6. Parent/guardian signature

Students who are 18 years old may sign themselves out of school, however, parent/guardians 
will be notified and students will need administrative approval to be allowed back on campus.
You will be asked to present identification when picking up your child. Students will only be
released to their parent/guardian documented in school records (this does not include 
Emergency Card contacts). The Student Pass must be returned to the front office if the 
student returns to school before the end of the day. - Admin
