PREPARING FOR TESTING
Attention Sophomores and Juniors! If you are planning on attending a 4-Year
College after high school, please use the summer to prepare for your ACT and/or
SAT test. Helpful books for the SAT are available on collegeboard.org as are
testing dates and locations. You are welcome to register to take either test on
island- they are offered every two months. Prepare early to find your strengths
and weaknesses by studying, taking practice tests online through collegeboard.org
and/or princetonreview.com, and taking your ACT and/or SAT including the optional
writing section. Remember, colleges accept either test. The ACT includes a science
section while the SAT does not. The SAT writing section focuses on rhetorical
analysis essay while the ACT writing section focuses on an argumentative position
paper. Plan to take these tests according to your strengths. Visit the college and
career center or your grade-level counselor for more information. - A. McCauley
