If you were trying to order yearbooks online Monday or Tuesday and got the message
that you missed the deadline, that message has been fixed and orders are still available

MOVING AT THE END OF THE SCHOOL YEAR? 
Please have your parent come to Q1 to sign a release form, you will have to clear out 
of your classes before the last day of school.   I will then give you a call once the packet 
are ready for pickup to take to your next school.  If you have any questions, please

FINAL TRANSCRIPTS 
Graduating Seniors/Juniors, you may start coming in to Q1 to request your final

LADY RAIDERS VOLLEYBALL 2017 SEASON PLANNING MEETING 
This is an open invitation to all student-athletes interested in participating in the 2017
Lady Raiders Volleyball season.  Coach Mounia will discussing pre-season sign ups, 
summer training schedule, fundraisers, and Aloha Lady Raiders & Parents,
This is an open invitation to all potential student athletes & parents interested in 
participating in the 2017 Lady Raiders Volleyball Program.  A meeting for all WHITE, JV, 
and Varsity returnees as well as anyone else interested (who is enrolled in the 9th-12th 
grade next school year) will be held this Friday 4/21 from 3pm-3:45pm in R103 coach 
Kaniela Kalama's class.  Coach Mounia will discuss preseason sign ups, summer schedule 
training, Varsity team travel to Las Vegas Durango Classic, and fundraiser opportunities. 
If you miss this meeting, a second meeting providing the same info will be held next 
Thursday 4/27 same time & same place. For more info. please contact Aunty Sina in Q-5

ESCHOOL REGISTRATION 
Round 1 of eSchool registration for school year 2017 - 2018 begins on Wednesday
April 19, and runs until May 19. Please see your counselor for a blue registration 
slip. Round 2 begins August 7 and ends August 10.   J. Holtzmann

MAY DAY TICKETS ON SALE... 
Starting Today, April 19th, 2017. PRESALE tickets are $3 for ages 5 and up. On the

SENIOR TILE UPDATE... 
All seniors who have not put the top glaze on their tiles, they need to do so no later

MILITARY PURPLE UP! DAY IS FRIDAY ALSO... 
Friday, April 21, will also be Purple Up! Day, a day to recognize military children for
their strength, sacrifice and resilience.  Purple is the color that symbolizes all 
branches of the military and everyone is encouraged to wear purple that day to honor 
our military students. Please join us in honoring Hawaii's young heroes!    K. Kalama

HELP KAHUKU CELEBRATE MOTHER EARTH... 
On Friday April 21st, Kahuku High and Intermediate will be celebrating EARTH DAY. 
Some ways you can celebrate with us... Ride your bike or walk to school, wear the colors 
green, blue, brown or yellow, do not use plastics that day, remember to turn off lights 
and use less water. Come to the Service project on Saturday at the Kahuku Golf Course.

KHIS AWARDS NIGHT - WEDNESDAY, MAY 10, 2017 - 6PM - SCHOOL CAFETERIA 
Parents, Students and KHIS Faculty - our KHIS Awards Night is on Wednesday, May 10, 
2017 at 6pm in the cafeteria.  Seniors receiving scholarhips will receive an invitation to

SUMMER SCHOOL/CREDIT RECOVERY
Summer School will be held  in A-building this summer for CREDIT RECOVERY only,..
for grades 7-12. If you failed a class in the past or you fail a class this school year,  
pick up a registration form and more information from Mrs. Finai in A-105, your counselor
or from the front office counter...starting WEDNESDAY, April 5, 2017.  $95 to register
for a 1/2 credit semester course & $190 for a year course. -L. Finai

For information on how to set-up this account please go to:www.kahukuhigh.org, under the 
Families tab, scroll down to Schoolcafe.com.  A mobile app for iphone, Android and Windows
is available as well. Payments can still be made using the envelopes in the front office. 
Starting the week of April 10th, automated calls will be going out to notify parents with

HAVING TROUBLE WITH YOUR IC APP?  
There are a couple of new and recent issues if your app is not working... Try these 
things... If it cannot verify you as a user get on a computer and log in. You may
be asked to update your contact email or change your password. Remember, your 
Kahuku Gmail will not work as an IC recovery email! No person outside of the Kahuku
Google system can email a student's gmail. If your app is asking for a district to search 
for, type "Hawaii" as the district name and then select the only entry that pops up. Email 
me on your Kahuku gmail if you need more help.   M. Jackson

Teacher assistance as well basic supplies and printing are available. Students can
also get a snack from Q6 before heading to Homework Help.

ATTENDANCE POLICY UPDATES: 
Please encourage your child to attend school daily and be on time to every class. 
Parents/Guardians will be notified via the Mass Messaging system if your child is 
tardy or absent from a class. Parents/Guardians can monitor their child's daily 
attendance through the online infinite Campus Parent Portal

Reminder: 
To excuse an absence, a parent/guardian can submit a note to the Attendance Clerk
within three days upon your child's return to school. Please refer to the Red Book 
for the list of reasons absences that can be excused.  A request to extend the three
day timeline will need to be approved by your child's Vice Principal. 

Amendment: Effective Feb. 27, 2017
Students will be required to attend one hour of after school detention for the third and
each subsequent verified unexcused absence for each class period missed.  Detentions 
not served will be treated as obligations.  Parents/Guardians will be notified of
unexcused absences via the Mass Messaging system and the online Infinite Campus 
Parent Portal. Students are responsible to keep track of detention hours that are not 
serviced. 

Chronic Absenteeism:
 . Parent Contact: Parents/Guardians of a student who is absent for 15 days or more
will be contacted by school personnel via letter, phone, and/or home visit to discuss 
the seriousness of the situation. A parent/guardian conference will be scheduled to 
discuss further interventions including counseling, a Behavior Support Plan, and/or 
an alternative placement to help improve student attendance. 
.  Family Court Intervention: Parents/Guardians of a student who is absent from 
school for 20 days or more due to truancy may be referred by the school to the 
State Attorney General's office for possible Family Court intervention.

STUDENT PRINTING
Starting this semester, teachers will not be allowing other students into their classes during 
instructional time to print, even if you have a pass. Students can print in P-38 from 
7:15 - 7:50am. and 2:30 -3:30pm. Also in room W-304 from 7:30 - 8:00 am and Recess.

PERSONAL ITEM DELIVERY
Due to the increasing amount of personal items delivered to students, unless it is deemed
an emergency, students will need to come to the front office to get their items during 
recess or lunch. Instructional time will not be interrupted and school personnel will not
be utilized for the purpose of delivering personal items.                   - Admin

INFINITE CAMPUS APP 
If you want easy access to yours or your students' grades on your phone, you can download
the Infinite Campus app on your phone. You must have previously set up your account on a
computer or tablet. Search for “Infinite Campus Mobile Portal” to download to your mobile
device. The Hawaii Department of Education District ID is RXCDMR.

STUDENT OFF CAMPUS PASS
Students leaving campus during the school day are required to have an official Student Pass.
To expedite the process of a student getting a Student Pass, parents/guardians are advised to
call the school at 305-7300 in the morning or send a note with your child and drop it off at
the front office before school starts. Without prior notice, the wait time to get a student 
out of class will vary depending on the availability of staff. We do not call classrooms 
during instructional time. 

Please include the following information in the note for a Student Pass:
1. Date note was written
2. Child's legal name and grade level 
3. Date and time to be released
4. Reason for early release
5. Current phone number
6. Parent/guardian signature

Students who are 18 years old may sign themselves out of school, however, parent/guardians 
will be notified and students will need administrative approval to be allowed back on campus.
You will be asked to present identification when picking up your child. Students will only be
released to their parent/guardian documented in school records (this does not include 
Emergency Card contacts). The Student Pass must be returned to the front office if the 
student returns to school before the end of the day.

CAFETERIA DROP-OFF
The cafeteria gate will be open from 7:30 am-8:00am for student drop-off.  This is a drop-off
area only--please do not park.  For safety reasons, please drive slowly, look out for our 
student bicyclists/pedestrians, and do not bypass the line of cars.

STUDENT ID AND LUNCH REMINDER 
Students are required to have their school ID and have a balance on their lunch account to 
purchase meals. If students have lost or misplaced their school ID they may purchase a 
replacement ID card at Q1 for a fee of $1 during recess or lunch. If students do not have 
money to purchase an replacement ID, an obligation slip will be given to them in their period
one class to take home to their parents/guardians. Please call 305-7394 if you do not want
 your child to get a replacement ID.
