FOODLAND SHOP FOR HIGHER EDUCATION PROGRAM 
Starts Wednesday, February 15th. Between February 15 and March 28, when you shop 
at Foodland, Sack N Save, or Foodland Farms, and designate KHIS as your school when 
you check out, you and KHIS both get points.  Ask for a free Maika’i card so both you 
and KHIS get points.  The more points the more $2,000 scholarships for students we will

*PROJECT GRAD CAR WASH - FEB. 18, 2017 
 Seniors:  Fundraising Opportunity for Project Grad: Car Wash Tickets available in Q2 
starting Wed. Feb. 1, 2017 during Recess, Lunch and After-School ONLY! Students 
will be assigned (10) Tickets @ $6.00 of which $5.00 are credited to seniors 
individual accounts.  Students who sell their 10 tickets will earn a $50 credit toward
their account.  Student must be present at car wash to receive full credit.
All monies for ticket sales must be returned to Mrs. Fonoimoana in Q2 by 02/16/17.

INTERMEDIATE SONGFEST.. 
Intermediate students who want to participate in SONG FEST must have a permission 
form turned in. Forms will be available during intermediate lunch in the Cafeteria. Make 
sure you get one and return it before next week Friday along with your $10 for the Song 
Fest tshirt. You cannot participate if you don't complete a form.   - K. Kalama

Intermediate practices are being held in the morning from 7:15-7:45 in the GYM on 
TUESDAY & THURSDAY MORNINGS. There is also practice after school on THURSDAYS

HAMASHIGE FAMILY ENDOWMENT SCHOLARSHIP
Seniors who exemplify character, service, leadership and will be enrolled into a university or 
college or trade school may apply for The Hamashige Family Endowment Scholarship.

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR INTERMEDIATE SCIENCE OLYMPIAD TEAM 
Give a big congratulations to our Intermediate Science Olympiad Team! This past 
Saturday our intermediate science olympiad team won 3rd place overall out of 10 
private and public schools from around the state and in doing so will now move on 
to represent our school at the State Science Olympiad finals in March......Go Big Red!

PROM TICKETS... 
Tickets will go on Sale Starting February 21st in Q - 2, tickets will be $75 per person for 
the first two weeks (February 21 - March 3) then $85 for the last week (March 6- 10).
Plan ahead and get your tickets early. Paperwork needs to be filled out, Obligations need to
be paid in FULL. Juniors and Seniors only.   Prom will be held on March 22, 2017.

Anyone in grades 9-12th who is interested in participating in Track & Field may sign up

MEAL/LUNCH RECEIPTS REQUEST
Receipt for deposits will be available only upon request. Please come to the front office
and see Dee Dee to obtain a receipt.  You may also view your deposits online by 
setting up an account on the new SchoolCafe system. For information on how to set-up 
this account please go to:  www.kahukuhigh.org. A mobile app for iphone, Android 
and Windows is available as well. Payments can still be made using the envelopes in the

STUDENT PRINTING
Starting this semester, teachers will not be allowing other students into their classes during 
instructional time to print, even if you have a pass. Students can print in P-38 from 
7:15 - 7:50am. and 2:30 -3:30pm. Also in room W-304 from 7:30 - 8:00 am and Recess.

PERSONAL ITEM DELIVERY
Due to the increasing amount of personal items delivered to students, unless it is deemed
an emergency, students will need to come to the front office to get their items during 
recess or lunch. Instructional time will not be interrupted and school personnel will not
be utilized for the purpose of delivering personal items.                                 - Admin

INFINITE CAMPUS APP 
If you want easy access to yours or your students' grades on your phone, you 
can download the Infinite Campus app on your phone. You must have previously 
set up your account on a computer or tablet. Search for “Infinite Campus Mobile 
Portal” to download to your mobile device. The Hawaii Department of Education 
District ID is RXCDMR.

STUDENT OFF CAMPUS PASS
Students leaving campus during the school day are required to have an official 
Student Pass. To expedite the process of a student getting a Student Pass, 
parents/guardians are advised to call the school at 305-7300 in the morning or 
send a note with your child and drop it off at the front office before school starts.
Without prior notice, the wait time to get a student out of class will vary depending 
on the availability of staff. We do not call classrooms during instructional time. 

Please include the following information in the note for a Student Pass:
1. Date note was written
2. Child's legal name and grade level 
3. Date and time to be released
4. Reason for early release
5. Current phone number
6. Parent/guardian signature

Students who are 18 years old may sign themselves out of school, however, 
parent/guardians will be notified and students will need administrative approval to 
be allowed back on campus. You will be asked to present identification when 
picking up your child. Students will only be released to their parent/guardian 
documented in school records (this does not include Emergency Card contacts). 
The Student Pass must be returned to the front office if the student returns to 
school before the end of the day.

CAFETERIA DROP-OFF
The cafeteria gate will be open from 7:30 am-8:00am for student drop-off.  This 
is a drop-off area only--please do not park.  For safety reasons, please drive slowly, 
look out for our student bicyclists/pedestrians, and do not bypass the line of cars.

STUDENT ID AND LUNCH REMINDER 
Students are required to have their school ID and have a balance on their lunch 
account to purchase meals. If students have lost or misplaced their school ID they
may purchase a replacement ID card at Q1 for a fee of $1 during recess or lunch.
If students do not have money to purchase an replacement ID, an obligation slip will 
be given to them in their period one class to take home to their parents/guardians.
